The waiter was knowledgeable and the service was quick. I wouldn't say the food was anything special or better that other hibachi places. I felt the soft shell crab was a let down. It didn't look like a crab but more like something that was fried in a square shape and cut up in slices. I ordered my steak rare, and it was good to know it was cooked to order. I think this place could do a better job in the order they cook food, it just took a long time for my entire order, and I could not enjoy all of it together at one time. To note there was a really bad draft and it made everyone cold. I would not come here during the winter time if you don't have a jacket, at least to the hibachi section.
This was my first Japanese food experience in the area, and Sumo Hibachi doesn't stand out on my list of memorable places to eat. The sushi wasn't bad, although I wish the menu mentioned it had wasabi inside. The spring rolls weren't bad either and went well with the sauce. However, the chicken with the hibachi plate was quite soft and chewy, which is less tasty than compared to a bit of char. The dressing on the salad wasn't very tasty either. The food itself warrants a star off. The other star deduction comes from the 18% gratuity at the end of the meal, regardless of party size. I've seen many restaurants add a mandatory gratuity for large groups (i.e. 6+ but it's quite rare that you're charged 18% on top of your meal regardless. That's never a good look for a restaurant. I will say the show they do in the back looked entertaining though, but I didn't get to experience it first hand.
Delicious and fast. Beautiful decors. They have a large terrace too. Too bad they aren't open for dining in or on terrace. The place is beautiful, though. We ordered over the phone and picked it up ourselves. They said it'll be ready with 15 minutes. Guess what? Ready within 10 minutes! The sashimi sushi combo was great for a hot summer evening. The vegetable tempura was also delicious (surprise: there's asparagus!
No happy hour anymore. Has a slight unpleasant smell in the restaurant. Kitchen water smell... not appealing. Maybe that's why many take out. Ordered an Alaskan roll and green phoenix roll. Not much flavor in either. Wasabi Wasn't spicy. Ginger looked old. Not much taste at all. Looks like this place has gone down hill. I won't be hurrying back anytime soon
I hadn't been here for years but a friend wanted to have a hibachi lunch party so we gave it a shot. Our party of 9 was thoroughly pleased!!!!! The hibachi show, food, and service was all excellent as I remembered. So much food!!!!!!! And they provided a complimentary tempura ice cream treat with candles for our friend's birthday! This was such a great celebration for our friend and we all loved it! Side note: the strawberry sake cocktail is killer!
