Taverna Cretekou - Alexandria

The outdoor seating area is nice, and most diners choose to eat outside. The service was satisfactory but a bit sluggish. The food was mediocre; the combo platter of various Greek lasagnas was served cold in the middle, which was disappointing. The gyro was decent, but the meat didn't appear to be very fresh.

This was definitely the best Greek food I've ever experienced—perhaps the best restaurant of any kind! I began with their thick red gazpacho, which was absolutely wonderful. It was truly amazing. Next, I had a simple Greek salad followed by a gyro. Both were straightforward yet beautifully prepared and delicious. The service and atmosphere were great as well. I loved it! Five stars!

Charming, delicious, and authentic! I celebrated my wife's birthday here, and we had an amazing experience. The selection of Greek dishes is fantastic, each with its unique twist. We ordered the lamb and salmon specials, both of which were outstanding. The menu features a wonderful variety of warm and cold mezes, as well as excellent entrees. The service was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. The back patio area is a lovely spot for outdoor dining, providing a cool escape from the heat and shelter from the rain. We truly enjoyed our time here!

Great meal in Alexandria just out of D.C. greek food that reminded me of home even though i am not from greece. Home cooked, not to expensive, charming place and staff

Best Greek food I've ever had in the US. Fresh and incredible. They have a huge range of authentic dishes and all 5 of us tried something different and all were fantastic. My only regret is that i didnt leave enough room for dessert. The sampler dinner was amazing and so filling... we loved it. The decor is great and the staff is friendly and attentive. We loved it! Looking forward to our next visit!
