Zento Japanese - Alexandria

We came in for dinner with a large party and the staff handled it so well. They didn’t seem stressed at all. They took our orders and did separate checks with no issues. There were no problems with getting the food to the right person or the checks to the right people. The food was amazing, some of the best sushi I have had. The staff was super friendly and efficient. I definitely recommend this place. I wish I could leave zero stars! Worst experience ever. I scheduled a pickup order for 7:30 pm, the earliest I was able to pick it up, but within minutes of placing the order, I got a text message saying it was ready for pickup — over an hour before my scheduled pickup time. I immediately called the store and asked them what was going on, and they said they didn’t realize it was supposed to be for 7:30 pm and that they would make it fresh for the correct time. When I arrived at the scheduled time to pick it up, my entire order was sitting out on a table — not even under heat. I asked if the food had been sitting out for over an hour and they said yes. I asked if they could remake it because I didn’t feel comfortable eating sushi that’s been sitting at room temperature for over an hour and they refused. We dined at Zento yesterday after receiving a recommendation from friends who reside in the Alexandria area. The food was delicious, and the entire experience was outstanding! Everything I come to Zento, I am greeted with a wonderful atmosphere. The quality and authenticity of Zento is what keeps me coming back! Ive brought numerous friends and family to this Japanese restaurant. Everyone always has a great time and wants to return. If you ever find yourself at Zento definitely grab yourself lemon ginger tea check out the chef specials menu. By far my favorite Japanese restaurant! Also special shout out to Jesse. The sushi was great! Very fresh, very tasty. My order was ready slightly before the time, which was appreciated. I ordered all rolls without eel sauce and for some reason my rolls were soaking in eel sauce. So I subtracted a star (4/5 rating). Otherwise, they were very good after wiping the sauce off. I would order these rolls again.
