I ordered a 3 pc Fish and Chips for 2 people to share. The man who runs the store promised it will be ready in 15 minutes. I waited outside. My order was ready in 15 minutes as promised. The fish batter was golden brown crisp outside. The fish was moist inside. The french fries was just fine, without salt. I will definately return for the fish and chips.
I called a few times and the line was busy. Finally I got through and ordered my Fish and Chips. It's about $10 per order. It was busy with only take out orders during Quarantine/Stay at home orders. The cook who also was also the cashier and server had his hands full. He also had his kids there with him But he was wearing a mask and No one was allowed inside the restaurant. All orders were paid for picked up at the door. The fish was good with a lovely batter and the fries were pretty good. I would go back again.
Prices are pretty good. For about $40 we got the family meal which had 10 pieces of fish, French fries, and sauce. I can't say it's the best fish and chips I've ever had, but not the worst, either. Really good price, though. The fish is pretty greasy. I added lime, my own pickled veggies, and Sriracha to the sauce, which helped a lot. My daughter who is 4 ate a full fish and some fries by herself. My son, who is 1.5 ate a handful of fries and half a fish. We had a tray of fries and a couple fish left over between the 4 of us. The fries aren't special. They were probably from a prefrozen bag. My kids liked them. The malt vinegar tasted slightly weird. The tartar sauce was fine, but better with sriracha. I would probably get the family meal to go, again, in the future.
Working in Alhambra spoils me with a plethora of dining choices. For whatever reason, I felt like orange chicken. Yes I know, it 's not real Chinese food but who clan resist fried chicken with a sugary glaze?! The Fish Chips signage can be misleading, but indeed, they serve fish n chips and Chinese fast food. I remember newly immigrated TW population would either do fish n chips or motels, so I guess it stuck. Orange chicken was really so-so. 90% batter 10% meat. Flavor was tangy but lacked something...The wonton was just a fried skin...no meat. The egg roll, was all veggie without any ground pork. Fried rice was just soy sauce colored rice and did not have the typical egg, green onion, or carrot. I wasn 't expecting much in the first place, but it was an overall disappointment. Next time I crave orange chicken, I 'll go to Panda Express.
Recently, I had a craving for fish and chips and wanted to order from this restaurant. Unfortunately, it had closed down. This establishment has been a staple in the area for as long as I can remember. I came across a review stating that they had to close due to the termination of their lease. If that’s true, I truly hope they can find another location nearby. I always enjoyed the food here, and the family that runs it was very friendly. It's such a disappointment...
