We loved the unique atmosphere, the friendly staff who were always ready to crack a joke, and the fascinating history shared by our guides. Don't forget to check out the beautiful birds and the massive cactus on the property - it's definitely worth a visit!
I typically do not like to leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I must say that this establishment is not worth the price. The room had a strong odor, the refrigerator was held together with duct tape, and the door did not seal properly. There was tea and coffee provided, but no milk. We had to sit indoors due to the overwhelming number of mosquitoes outside. The pool was dirty and green, likely contributing to the mosquito problem. The accommodations appeared worn out, poorly maintained, and incredibly overpriced. The final straw was the rude behavior of the staff member who treated us as if we had not paid for our stay. We were appalled. Additionally, the informational pamphlet on the bed gave basic instructions on how to properly use the bedding, which seemed unnecessary and insulting. It is clear that more effort and care should be put into maintaining the property, especially when expecting guests.
On the way back to Alice from our day trip to Uluru, the coach stopped here to drop off some guests and most of us used the public facilities. I know it's out in the middle of nowhere, I know it's hard to get good...staff, or any staff, and I imagine a lot of people just stop to use the facilities, but having acknowledged all that, the toilets were pretty much a disgrace. God knows what international travellers think, let alone some Australians who've never been bush in their lives. It would be good if the NT Govt or the local councils, had a standard for all public facilities and spelled out what those facilities need to be made of, how often they should be cleaned and what basics they should have like soap and paper towels or an efficient hand-dryer. It's a public health issue, if nothing else.
This place is below average and has a lot of potential that is being ignored in favor of making money. The staff seemed understaffed and unwelcoming. The service was poor and our room was basic, with outdated amenities and a small uncomfortable bed. The room was also infested with mosquitoes, requiring us to use insecticide and leave for a few hours. The restaurant served overly salty honey and soy beef ribs, and the prices were high. We had to cook our own food on a filthy BBQ that we had to clean ourselves, with no way to light it provided. This place did not make us feel welcome as paying customers.
We stayed here for a stop over towards Uluru. It's a nice setup practically in the middle of no where. The restaurant has good food including vegetarian options and the store has good supply. We had the family cabin which was comfortable for a night...stay. The effort the management/owners are putting in to run this place is commendable.
