Quinta Da Avessada - Alijo

Sad to say but after the museum and the Adega this was a let down. The welcome was nice as is the situation, but there were toomany people in for comfort and the winter meal was inappropriate for such a hot day, with something lighter being infinately preferable. I realise that this was an unchanging daily menu with some historical context but thick unsalted soup and a heavy beef stew were too much and a lot was left which for someone who abhors food waste was dfisturbing. On a positive note the good wine flowed freelyand the water jug was kept topped up. Perhaps the worst part not the Quintas fault was that during this excursion our Viking boat with just six passengers was moved a dozen miles or more closer to egua through some of the prettiest sections of the river and to which everyone on board had been looking forward on our return. VIKING should take strong not of the discontent which this caused though as I say, not the Quintas fault.

We were part of a river cruise and really enjoyed the tour and the dinner. Lots of food and fun entertainment.

Went here as part of a river cruise ... and that may have been the problem. food was so-so for the most part ... entertaining how the different courses were introduced and described before being distributed to the tables. Beef stew was the best offering in my opinion. Loud and noisy inside when there is a crowd.
