Copper Fells Brasserie - Allerdale

Very clean restaurant and bar with a nice ambiance and well looked after toilets. We were a party of six and had a window seat with a pleasant view. The staff were friendly and helpful, just one minor issue with service in that one if the waiters kept leaning over one of our party to clear dishes which wasn’t ideal. The food was overall nice enough, though my nut roast was rock hard and either over or undercooked, however we did let them know and they were good enough to take this meal off the bill. I thought the meals were slightly overpriced for the size of the portions, however I guess you pay for the convenience of the restaurant being on the site. Overall a pleasant restaurant with great staff and I would go back here again, however do make sure you book in advance as it is always very busy.

Pizza night . No reservation needed . 9 of us were going for pizza night. We had already enquired about gluten free pizza and told to let them know on the day which we did to be told should have let them know earlier . Do they not cater for gluten free people all of the time. Unfortunately they have probably lost over £200 of income as we all decided not to leave a family member behind

We stayed at the park for a few nights and decided to eat here on the first evening to see how it was before deciding for the rest of the trip. The food is very 'ok ' nothing particularly special except it is presented very attractively. Prices are quite reasonable, and the drink selection is pretty good. One thing I cannot understand is the overuse of dried parsley which all of our chips were coated in, and I asked if the onion rings were homemade or frozen, I was told homemade and they definitely were not. The staff and the service here though is exceptional, which to me (with over 20 years of hospitality experience) and this can be the difference between a disappointing evening and a good one. Apparently, there is a new chef, and I am looking forward to see what he does with the menu as we will definitely be visiting again

The service was extremely poor and the food was not great. I don't plan on using this restaurant again. We waited nearly an hour for our food, with other people being served before us even though we arrived before them. Additionally, my husband's food wasn't cooked properly and had to be sent back, causing him to eat alone. This experience took place in December 2024.

During our long weekend stay at one of the lodges, we decided to visit this restaurant. The first time we went just for drinks and found the bar area to be lovely with comfortable seating and dog-friendly. On our second visit, we had made a reservation for food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food this time, which was a change from when my mother had enjoyed a meal there the previous year. The roast dinner was average and came with new potatoes instead of roasted potatoes. Although the gravy was delicious, the lasagne I ordered had burnt cheese on top, flavorless mince, and was dry. The staff handled the situation well by taking the dish away, offering an alternative, and removing it from the bill. We probably wouldn't return for the food, but we would still visit to enjoy the bar area.
