We stayed here the night before setting off to cycle the length of Hadrian's Wall. Everything about the stay was perfect. All staff were very welcoming and friendly, the room was very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast both excellent. When we are next in the area, we will definitely stay here again.
Food wasn't great one up from frozen really. Had steak pie and the portion was small filled mainly with congealed gravy and 3 small pieces of steak and one lump of fat, and the peas were uncooked. This cost £15.95 and did not warrant the price for the quality of the food can get this sort of thing in Asda for £5! Disappointing as reviews are misleading and was expecting a nice quality meal for what I paid for it. Other diners wanted Sunday dinner but had sold out and everything else seemed to be of limited availability. Sorry but wont be going again.
Stayed for 2 nights as we completed Hadrian's Wall. Annette and her staff were fantastic. Lovely and friendly. Good ale and excellent traditional pub food. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It's a great place to start or finish your walk
Fantastic stay, just post Covid lockdown lifting.Lovely owner and her daughter plus great staff make this an amazing family run pub. Rooms are simple but clean, bathrooms enormous! Home cooked food just what you want for a hungry walker. Great start to our journey thank you. Simon, Liz, Dave and Sarah
