We had arrived in the Lakes to find our original accommodation (Embleton Spa Hotel) had cancelled our room for the 3 nights I'd paid for. Unexplainable...Having stayed 1 night by luck!!! we decided to move on and found this farm deep in the countryside behind Portiscale. Sara was very accommodating, she gave us the family room, big bed, great views over the valley. Fabulous brekky, Ramsey blackpud was delish as was the Cumberland sausages. With walks right left and centre and great weather the break turned out to be fabulous. Its well tucked away if you want seclusion and peace and quiet. that's what suited us after the mess on the Monday. Thanks to Littletown Farm. xx
Amazing views of beautiful hills can be enjoyed from the tables in the garden and farmyard. The staff is delightful and the cream tea, cakes, and variety of teas are all excellent. In addition to sandwiches and a few hot dishes, this is a great spot to relax at the end of a day of walking or sightseeing in the peaceful Newlands Valley. It also makes for a perfect halfway stop during a hike.
Having climbed up and down Catbells it was nice to call in at this tearoom for some refreshments. Apart from tea/coffee and some nice looking cakes they serve beer and cider, the latter of which I can vouch for.
A wonderfully quiet location and informal cafe. Some of the best scones and caramel shortbread you’ll find anywhere.
