Lorton Village Shop - Allerdale

The shop was recommended to us and it was even better than expected. It's very friendly, extremely well-stocked and has a lovely little garden behind, to have the great coffee that they serve.

We shopped here for ice cream on our bike ride to buttermere and loved it. The shop itself is so quaint and traditional with a great little sun trap garden with benches and a toilet. Exactly what we needed. Go and support this local gem!

Perhaps it’s because I’m an “older” person, but I just love the fact that little shops of this style still exist although they are becoming few and far between. With a decent range of basic essentials, foodstuffs, and some touristy bits and pieces, this atmospheric little shop provides a good service for locals and tourists alike. No doubt the latter simply come here because they have seen reviews on places like TA but I’m also sure that they will be glad of the visit and, hopefully, will have bought something. Because it’s important to do your bit to keep unique places like this open!

We stopped here for an ice cream on the way back from Buttermere. It was a fantastic little place. We ate in the little garden out the back and they also had a little guest toilet in a quaint potting shed that we could use before our next walk. Thank you for your warm welcome and delicious ice cream.

Stopped at this little shop while out on a (very)short bike ride between Christmas and New Year. Just had a cup of tea and a mince pie but was really nice. I plan to use it more when the weather gets a bit better. A lovely little place to pop in and support.
