Lovely long walk in the gardens and grounds of this house. Authentic planting and historical interest. Perhaps could do with modernisation to add interest for younger visitors and allow for a more interactive experience of the surroundings.
The cake selection is beautiful, with several gluten-free options available. The gluten-free bread for lunch was a nice touch. My only slight criticism is that the chocolate was quite lacking, and I wouldn’t have paid extra for it if I had known. The staff was busy, but the service was excellent.
The scones were excellent, and the carrot cake was beautiful, perfectly paired with Earl Grey tea. The service was quick and friendly, and we enjoyed a lovely view of the water lilies.
This tea room is truly charming and has a special atmosphere. The tea for two came with plenty of additional hot water. The prices for the sandwiches were on the higher side (there was an extra charge for salad and croissants), but the bratwurst and cranberry toastie were delicious and perfect for a chilly day. The staff was quick to clear tables, and there was an organized system in place, making the overall experience feel well-managed.
