John A Lau Saloon - Alpena

This is a fantastic restaurant! We ordered steaks and absolutely loved them. The French fries were delicious as well. Our waiter was outstanding, and we received our appetizers very quickly. The decor is incredible; it feels more like a museum than a restaurant with all the vintage items on display. As discerning French travelers, we highly recommend this place!

My fiancée and I dined here tonight, and I highly recommend this place. Our burgers were excellent! The prices are very reasonable considering the quantity and quality of the food and service. The decor is impressive as well. We will definitely be returning. Our waiter, Graham, was fantastic!

The new menu offers a variety of options that you won’t find in other restaurants in Alpena, which is refreshing. I think it’s a nice spot for a casual meeting. For two people dining here, expect to spend around $50 to $75 or more, especially if you order alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere is lovely, though it’s worth noting they don’t have air conditioning, so it can get a bit stuffy during the summer months. I would definitely recommend trying this place, even if it’s just for a special occasion. It’s a great option!

This place was recommended to us, and we enjoyed every bit of it! The server Graham was absolutely AMAZING and went above and beyond! We even asked for a picture because he made our experience that memorable (were from Canada). As was the bar tender who made us a round of impressive shots! The decor in the restaurant was so intriguing and fun to walk around and see. The food itself was delicious. After our visit we were left stuffed absolutely no complaints what so ever! Hope to be back again.
