We were there on the Swiss national holiday and Altdorf was a big party. Stalls with eating and stands with goods all through the city center and according masses of people. Looking for a beverage, we found the beergarden of the Schutzenmatt, woderfully shadowed by an old chestnut. It was nice and silent, phantastic for sitting and talking.The interieur of the restaurant maybe is a little bit outdated, but the beergarden is a wonderful place at a warm, sunny day !Next time again...

Good food, good service, lovely terrace to enjoy a good meal during the current heatwave. Right in the heart of town, next to the local theatre.

We eat at this restaurant whenever we stop in Altdorf after a hiking day. The food was always good and fresh, the service friendly and the garden very relaxing.
