Claxon's Smokehouse And Grill - Altoona

I am so glad that Altoona has a place like Claxon's. It's nice to eat somewhere that people care about the product they make. My server was happy to answer my questions. That meant a lot to me.

I had been unsure about visiting Claxon’s after reading some mixed reviews online. Initially, I decided against it. However, my wife heard from a friend that it’s one of the best dining spots around, so we decided to give it a try – and I'm glad we did! The service was a bit slow, but the staff was very friendly. I ordered the Philly Sandwich, which was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted, while my wife had ribs. I tried one of her ribs, and it was easily the best I’ve had in this state. So, please don’t pay attention to the negative reviews; you really need to go and experience it for yourself!

We don’t visit Altoona often, or really at all, but while we were driving home from Topeka, we needed to stop for gas and a bite to eat. I’m so glad we did! My family and I had a great experience at Claxon’s. The barbecue was delicious. We’re really happy we made the stop!

Overpriced lukewarm slop! We stopped on the way home and ate at another restaurant!

I thoroughly enjoyed my prime rib sandwich; it was flavorful and incredibly tender with a lovely smoky taste. The burgers and tenderloins were simply fantastic—big, thick, and juicy enough to easily serve as two meals. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. We visited at 4:30 PM on a Saturday, and it was a great time!
