Hoss's Steak Sea House - Altoona

I always visit this restaurant for special occasions, and I never miss ordering the steak tips with mushrooms, onions, and au jus for dipping. The food is consistently perfect every time I go. I’m never let down when I come here. I also had the salad and French onion soup, which were both absolutely delicious.

I ordered a whitefish sandwich, but unfortunately, I couldn't eat it because it wasn't cooked all the way through. The Willie Burger was extremely greasy and just dripped with oil. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she asked if I wanted something else. Given the price we paid, the experience was really disappointing. I don’t think I’ll be dining there again.

Our family gathered here for dinner, and I must say it was an excellent experience! Most of us consider ourselves steak connoisseurs, and I think everyone was impressed with their different cuts. My steak was cooked to perfection, and the mushrooms we ordered as a side came in a shareable bowl (though I only shared a spoonful). The salad bar offered a good variety of choices, and everything looked fresh, even though we were probably the last party seated before closing. Our server was delightful, attentive, and efficient, and the staff made no effort to rush us out at closing time. If I ever have the opportunity to visit this area again, this will definitely be on my list of must-visit places.

Only reason they get 2 stars is I ate there when the good steak cook was there and the waitress and manager was mortified about how horrible it looked. They have a good salad bar but watch for the wilted lettuce. The waitress was a very hard worker and waswonderful.
