The fillet wife had was fine. I had the ribeye it was awful. It was cooked properly, but there was way too much fat and gristle, even for a ribeye. Both were served floating in a pool of balsamic vinegar which completely destroyed the taste of the steaks. Our service was excellent and the manager deducted $10 from our bills for the balsamic vinegar. the diced potatoes cooked to acrisp. Ambience was outstanding and the wine was excellent but a bit pricey. The waiter should have warned us about the balsamicvinegar.
We were stopping for the night in Amarillo. My wife found Macaroni Joe's on line, so we ordered food for take away to eat in our hotel room. We were bushed. Boy, did we make the right choice! The food was amazing. We shared a Lemon Butter Shrimp pasta and aConfetti Spaghetti. We honestly couldn't decide which was better. That said, the jerk spice on the Confetti Spaghetti adds atotally fun flavor profile. If we lived in Amarillo, Macaroni Joe's would be a mainstay for us. Given the crowd they had on aThursday evening, I would surmise many locals feel the same.
Nice atmosphere! Everyone liked their food but ME! Mine was icky! The confetti spaghetti was gross! I got the bread pudding for dessert. The ice cream it was topped with had refrozen ice milk bits in it! I was really disappointed in my food from main dishto dessert.
I can 't discuss Brandony Brand and Jakey Jake anywhere but here due to the ethical concerns of reviewing my own workplace, but their respective tours of duty at Mac Joe 's were fabulous. Their work had a hand in establishing the high regard I still holdthis restaurant in. From their departure onward, their residual energy will probably linger and haunt the building to make upfor the loss of their proper presences, and just as a importantly, the consistency with the high quality of the food willremain. Even by the off chance that the last statement made here isn 't true, this review is primarily about the bar anyway, because wow I don 't know the first thing about wine, but Mac Joe 's winelist has a ton of French sounding stuff that I couldnever hope to pronounce, so my guess is that it 's all pretty good. What I really want to ramble semi-coherently about, however,is the whiskey. When you flip open the drinks menu and the first thing you see on the whiskey page for their Irish options is Middleton , you know you 're not at an average restaurant. There are selections here for Irish, Rye, Bourbon and Scotch that Isincerely doubt you can find at any other restaurants in Amarillo. You 're not even going to find some of these in any liquorstores here. On the bourbon side of things, they have Bookers too. I never thought I 'd ever actually encounter Bookers in mylife, but Mac Joe 's made that dream come true for me, and Bookers is absolutely amazing. The food is fantastic as well, but I 'musually too intoxicated by the point that I receive my entree to take real note of anything to mention in detail. I tend to onlyever order steak in restaurants, and what you get here is at the upper end of quality for what you 'll find in 'Rillo. Mac Joe 'sis an all around treasure that all of us in A-town should be proud of. Support local businesses, folks, especially when they 'reat this quality and sell rare bourbon that could be used as paint stripper or flame thrower fuel.
