Nice venue and evening started well starter of scallops/ black pudding delicious. Wine was also very good . Very long wait considering there were only 6 others in the restaurant 4 of whom were on coffees when we arrived. My main of “daily catch “ of Monkfish in white wine sauce was bland and looked grey and unappetising. Ironically my request for salt and pepper on the table was met with recommendation that I taste food first !! This was then relayed back to chef in a stage whisper so the restaurant could hear !! Given the size of venue I did not wish to make a fuss and impact on others enjoyment but was furious I left my husband to pay but this really ruined my evening. Ironically no amount of salt or pepper could have rescued this dish . My husband had seafood risotto which he enjoyed but by definition risotto is a rice based dish and there was very little rice evident in this risotto . Very disappointing experience which went beyond the actual disappointment in the food .
This is a hidden gem in Amble. It's definitely somewhere to visit for a romantic meal with good quality food. The restaurant is small, but spacing of the tables is well set out for social distancing. If you visit, you wont be disappointed.
Excellent Food and friendly, personal service. Prefect for a special celebration.
What a fabulous little find! Food outstanding, great atmosphere and excellent service from the waiter and the chef!! Would highly recommend it to anyone who happens to find themselves in Amble!
