Like most restaurants inside a tourist attraction, the prices are somewhat high for what you get, and the food isn't the best. The menu here is eclectic, but has a nice ice cream selection. Tables are at a premium when it is crowded. And the servers (and probably the cooks) are terribly overworked, so service is slow--but not because they're inattentive, just really busy. You're mostly paying for the convenience of eating on location. That said, if you don't mind a wait and the somewhat high prices, you could do worse unless you want to hike all the way back into the center of town to eat at an independent restaurant. And the patio is pleasant. I would recommend light fare or an ice cream rather than a full meal.
The location is great: the restaurant is located in a the Clos-Lucé garden, which is convenient. The only other food options around are located in Amboise. Our group 14 guests arrived on time and the waitress was very polite. She was on time as well. No delay in our schedule. The waitress was wearing in Renaissance clothes and made interesting comments on the food she served. Food is clearly NOT the forte of this restaurant. Wine was a Chinon 2014 : it was way too young! The appetizer was some scallop dish, which is not typical of the Loire Valley. And I could barely taste the scallop, which is typically so full of flavors. The entrée was a wine rooster 'Coq au vin ' : I suspect it was frozen or from a tin, because it didn 't have the typical flavors of this wonderful French specialty. We chose the cheese supplement: the ash goat cheese, which came from the region, was served on a warm toast. It was OK. Desert was canned pineapple served in Vouvray wine. While Vouvray wine was a good idea, why would they serve it with cheap and canned fruits?? In a nutshell, products were not fresh not tasty. A 32 euros/per person lunch should be a more more enjoyable experience. The Loire Valley has so much to offer, especially in terms of food. I wish we had had lunch elsewhere. I do not recommend this place.
Are you looking for a family gastronomic stop between the harassing visits of Cambodian castles and the attached ones? Good shovel. inn located at the bottom of the park. the very joyous theatrical reception of staff in period clothing. Good cooking. tables spaced in the shade on the outside terrace. the team has merit: in season, they are structurally complete and insufficiently effective. mandatory booking in season ... especially that the hostel sometimes accommodates groups.
A very charming restaurant with very welcoming and interesting staff. we learn from the little anecdotes of rebirth. I strongly recommend not forgetting to book
