Le François premier combines the laid back atmosphere of a typical French bar with the fine dining food of a great French restaurant. Run by Mali, who is the manager behind the bar at the till and Lucien, the head chef (ex chef of President...Mitterrand) and owner of the business. The couple are assisted by very polite and attentive waiting staff behind the bar and at the restaurant. The restaurant is a small but very cosy place to eat, drink and hangout. The fact that there is a considerable presence of locals is a sure sign that its reputation is a good one amongst the local community. The food is divine and at very affordable prices. The staff are very pleasant and willing to serve and make your stay an excellent experience. Mali and Lucien (Lulu) have ensured the Bistro is as warm and as welcoming as can be. Would recommend without hesitation to all our friends back in the UK. If you ever find yourself in Amboise, where Leonardo DaVinci’s spent his last few years until his death, make sure you stop by le Francois Bon appétit.
Wow, we came here for lunch as they were closed the nights that we were there. Amazing. It's only a very small place with a lovely chef and a lovely server. My husband and I both had the lasagne which was one of the best...I'd had in a long time. For dessert we had a cherry tart. Wow, please make sure that you go here in Amboise, there are a lot of great places to eat and this is one that shouldn't be missed. Also we didn't make a reservation for lunch and we got in fine. They did fill up quickly though.
Super little bar/restaurant with very friendly owner and staff excellent food and great value. We always visit when in Amboise.
Voilà un endroit où vous mangerez très bien, dans un esprit bistrot d'antan et convivial C'est agréable, frais, et copieux. Que les amateurs de restauration à la chaîne passent leur chemin ici c'est d'abord la convivialité à échelle humaine
