Filling Station - Ames

I’m visiting from Canada for work with the Ag department at ISU, and the Filling Station has become a go-to spot for me. The brisket and pulled pork are fantastic, and the light breakfast paired with an Americano is equally delightful. I even tried biscuits and gravy for breakfast for the first time before the football game, and it was a treat! Most importantly, the staff has been incredibly welcoming, making me feel at home even while I’m sitting outside working on my laptop. I highly recommend this place!

The Filling Station is an excellent place for coffee, breakfast, brunch, and lunch—plus, you can fill up your gas tank if needed! While it may seem like just a gas station and convenience store, it offers so much more. The food is outstanding, and the staff is fantastic! You have the option to dine in, take out, or grab quick meals that are prepared fresh in their kitchen. I always make it a point to stop here for lunch whenever I'm in Ames.

The breakfast here is fantastic, whether you choose to have it made to order or grab something from the hot case. They also make excellent Americanos at the full-service espresso bar; just be sure to order your espresso at the grill instead of using the self-serve machine. I absolutely love the breakfast quesadilla, but it’s big enough to consider sharing. The portion sizes are quite generous. Highly recommended!

We picked this place based on ranking and location without reading the reviews, so were somewhat surprised to find it was an actual filling station and actual convenience store! But the food was top-notch. Very flavorful quesadilla with pickled jalapenos that gave some kick without a lot of bite. Will definitely try again when the opportunity arises.

Kind, friendly and helpful! I filled my gas tank then ordered a Cowboy Quesadilla with some specialty soda and some sort of dessert I have only ever dreamed of- WOW! YUM!From service to food, this place is, hands down, the best overall outstanding experienced I’ve had in my stay in Iowa this past week.Their sign says “It’s our pleasure to serve you” or something like that and the entire staff here definitely put service into ACTION. Thank you for making this experience worth it.The only complaint I have is that I wish I would have come by 5 days ago when I arrived. I missed out on so much more impeccable people, food and experience. GREAT JOB!!
