We stopped in this restaurant quite randomly, as we walked through the channel through which hortillonagen, and it was the lunchtime. there was a party of businessmen in there, and we were the last to come to lunch, but the choice of two tables offered. we moved after a few minutes because our first table right next to the heat sink, which was quite hot! the lady who served us was very friendly and gave us advice and recommendations. we wanted something local, so chose the menu above that we thought at 19 euro for starter, main course and pudding very well. we had the ficelle de picarde to begin, and it was excellent very fine cut mushrooms, and not too much cheese it was delicious. for a main course was the choice between duck and fish dishes: I had one and mean the other. my fish was beautifully boiled and the nicely presented. my man has expressed himself well with his disappointment. for pudding I had an excellent and quite rich chocolate cake that was really good, and my man chose the cream broth that was the only less than good what we had, it was more eczy and firm. he didn't make any sense of happiness! the service that I cannot blame: the two women who served us were painful to be helpful, and really gave us the feeling that we were important for them. we enjoyed our lunch and felt that it was a happy chance that we had happened on this restaurant. in the summer it would be nice to sit outside on the canal.
We stopped at this restaurant quite by chance, as we had been walking along by the canal, through the hortillonages, and it was lunch time. There was a party of businessmen in there, and we were the last to arrive for lunch, but were offered the...choice of two tables. We moved after a few minutes, because our first table was right next to the radiator, which was rather hot! The lady who served us was very friendly and gave us advice and recommendations. We wanted something local, so chose the menu above, which at 19 euros for starter, main course and pudding we thought very good value. We had the ficelle de picarde to start with, and it was excellent very finely cut mushrooms, and not too much cheese it was delicious. For a main course, the choice was between duck and a fish dish: I had one and my husband the other. My fish was beautifully cooked and the vegetables very nicely presented. My husband pronounced himself well satisfied with his duck. For pudding, I had an excellent and rather rich chocolate cake that really was good, and my husband chose the creme brulee which was the only less than good thing we had it was rather too eggy and solid. He, fortunately, didn't mind it at all! The service I cannot fault: the two ladies who served us were at pains to be helpful, and really made us feel that we were important to them. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, and felt it was a lucky chance that we had happened upon this restaurant. In the summer, it would be lovely to sit outside by the canal.
This small restaurant is located directly on the canal. there were swans, ducks and other birds that swung on our table. the food and the hospitality were excellent. in any case stop a place to lunch. open at 12:00.
For a dinner with foreign colleagues on weekdays, the restaurant received us. the building shows the weight of the years, and will not survive if the bosses rely solely on its reputation as an antique and the framework of hortillonnages. The food was good, but neither refined nor original.
