Charming Landaise restaurant with local food and wine. Great service and lovely decor. Situated in the centre of beautiful Amou.

There's nothing wrong with the food here. Nicely cooked and seasoned but a little mean given the price. Service slow even with plenty of staff and the wine waiter having made mincemeat out the cork, instead of discretely completing the task away from the table, kept removing fragments for a ages in an embarrassing silence, and then got bits in everyones glasses. We asked to sit outside on arrival but not having booked had to sit indoors. There were plenty of empty tables when we arrived, and as my friend predicted, still empty when we left. That's provincial France.

First a disclaimer: the owner of the restaurant is a distant relative of my grandmother and a friend of my father. I have enjoyed the food of Chez Darraq often in the past. But now that a new generation is in charge not only is the food as outstanding as ever but the service, the decor are at the same level. I particularly liked the way the barman/sommelier explained that the wine I had chosen (A local wine found on my grandfather table) had been delivered in the morning and was still a bit too cold. He suggested we wait a little bit after it was opened to reach the right temperature. This shows an understanding of the wine devoid of snobbery. I must clarify that my family and I were perfectly treated from the minute we passed the door but I identified myself only after paying the bill, so that I am pretty sure all customers are treated that well.

C'est sur les conseils d'un ami que nous avons découvert ce restaurant, et nous en somme enchantés. Mon épouse a pris l'assiette landaise basée sur le canard ( foie gras, aiguillettes, magret...)...elle fut enchantée, un délice! J'ai pris des moules farcies gratinées en entrée, délicieuses. En plat, j'ai pris une pièce de boeuf landais, tendre à souhait! S'en suivit un gâteau au pamplemousse pour elle et un sorbet pour moi...parfaits! Le café et le digestif (un délicieux armagnac local!!!) ont terminé ce délicieux repas! A recommander!
