The Potters Heron - Ampfield

Initial reaction was that it was a pleasant hotel in a convenient location. On closer inspection it is a bit tired and jaded. Room was ok but a bit scruffy round the edges. There is a need for some staff training. Some very very good, others were not very professional although pleasant enough. So, in summary nothing really bad to say about it, but nothing outstanding either. Rooms: Tired and a bit scruffy. Showing its age. Chipped surfaces blackening sealant in the bathroom. Smelled as if it ha been a smoking room even though this no permitted.

The places is beautiful and definitely the staff is the star of the place. However, the mugs in the room were dirty, and our dinner took 1 hour and a half to come to table. I would still recommend the place. Rooms: 3 Service: 5 Location: 2 Hotel highlights: Quiet

Room was okay, it is a bit dated but there was absolutely no damp smells as others have said. The food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended the steak. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great value

For the purpose of my visit location was perfect along with the staff, they were great. However, do not be fooled by the nice looking thatched exterior because it’s a different story when you walk inside! The place stinks of damp, likened to my nan’s when I was a kid. It is majorly run down with torn carpets and stained carpets in places. There is no air conditioning with windows in our room not closing properly. Dirty stains all around the room with signs of damp all around the windows. Simply not good and not worth the money! Rooms: Long overdue a complete refit and decoration!!!
