Contribuisci feedbackDecided to go here after reading all the great reviews of this place. The atmosphere is cozy and provides a calm feeling when sitting down at the table. Having an open kitchen is nice and makes the place unique compared to most other European restaurants I've visited in Amsterdam. I decided to get the surf and turf dish and the food came out pretty quickly. The presentation was great with a nice addition of mashed carrots. Now when it comes to the actual quality of the food, it was very mixed. The steak was excellent and grilled to perfection which I enjoyed immensely. However, the lobster had almost no taste to it at all and even with some salt it was very blend. A huge disappointment for me. For dessert, I ordered the créme brulee but they were out of it. Instead, I got a brownie with caramel sauce which wasn't on the menu. It was good but not excellent. Now for the service, it could have been way better. Our server forgot to bring us water which we asked for and she also forgot to bring us the dessert menu even though we specifically asked for it after we had finished our meals. When we were about to get the bill, she was standing by another table for a good 15 minutes talking to someone who appeared to be a friend. She didn't even look our way. There werent enough servers for this place and she still decided to talk to a friend and ignore her customers. After a while we managed to get a hold of someone else for our bill. Needless to say, we didn't tip at all. This restaurant would have gotten four stars if it wasn't for the bad quality lobster and the terrible service.
On our last business trip to Europe we met our Dutch customer at this restaurant, which he recommended. We were a bit early and he was a bit late so we ordered a bottle of wine and ate some bread. They have an open kitchen here which is a bit unusual in Europe, and it was great to see what they were doing. Our waitress was attentive and knew the menu well, we found out that she was a former stewardess for one of the Middle East airlines and we also found out that her and her husband took over this restaurant in January of the this year. Super nice lady and beautiful. They change the menu every six week and what we had was very good. Each course was explained to us when it was delivered, which I thoroughly enjoy. The Chef, a beautiful lady from Ghana, made as an amuse bouche out of eel that was outstanding. This is a great place to come to for a great meal, and if you want to know exactly where it is at it is over one of the canals from the red light district.
Had dinner here after reading about it in an article on the plane. What can I say, this place was well worth the effort. The staff was amazing in how they explained the menu as it rotates every 6 weeks. The food was exquisite and cannot wait to visit here again.
Gewoon erg lekker gegeten en een een vanouds goede bediening.
Erg vriendelijk personeel, eten was heerlijk. Toiletten zijn alleen erg verouderd.
