My fiancé order the chicken quesadilla which was two tortillas with chicken on the inside and a small center of melted cheese on the outside. The margarita came with a lemon not a lime. The bottle of water on the table which we assumed was free tap water turned out to be a 4,50€ there was no sign. If you are looking for Mexican food in Amsterdam keep looking, I recommend Cabron which was much better.
I don't like writing bad reviews, but this place is just kind of a joke. One of the only places in all of Amsterdam that I've ever eaten where I feel like they're trying to overcharge tourists for food that just isn't that good. Take my advice and stay away. So many great places to grab food in Amsterdam. Let Yelp guide you...
WARNING! Not worth the money what so ever!! The restaurant was completely empty which should have tipped us off but since we were hungry we stayed. When our 'starter for two ' arrived, we got something that looked like 6 turds on a plate. It didn 't taste much better and we left right after. You are way better off going to the snack shop across the street. Left with a feeling of disappointment and nausea i hope this warning will reach you before you eat at Alfonso 's. It is sadly the worst food I 've ever had in Amsterdam.
Alfonso's was my first sit down dining experience in Amsterdam and I can't even begin to say how happy I am that it was. My friend told me that this Mexican restaurant was his favorite in the entire city and that we had to go the first day I arrived. Being that he's dutch I took his recommendation with some skepticism at first, but after my dining experience here I can gladly concede and confirm that this place is fire. Located within city center, Alfonso's apparently prides itself in making authentic Mexican cuisine with a dutch twist. The space itself is fairly modest, just one floor with the bathrooms on the second. It's comfortably decorated with dark wooden fixtures and set in dim lighting during the evenings. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and given some time to look over the menu. When it came time to order I ended up going with the 3 enchiladas dish € 18.75). The portion that came out was HUGE. Three sizable enchiladas with beans, rice, and guacamole in the center. You also get the choice of which meet you'd like in the enchiladas which was appreciated. This dish left me more than stuffed and I'm happy to say I enjoyed each and every bite. Overall Alfonso's seems like a nice spot to grab a casual dinner with friends and/or family. It's also situated on a main thoroughfare which has beautiful festive lights hanging on the streets during the holiday season. You definitely won't be disappointed if you end up eating here!
Straight up place. Went in go food came out. It was great but not amazing. Good space, lovely music, but lacked energy. There was no oomph factor. As a source of nutrition the portion size is great for the, Pollo Fajita. But the food lacked love, zest... life. Service was excellent, food was quick and I am full that counts for a size able amount of the transaction as well as my satisfaction. Great not amazing. 4.25 out of 5.0.
