This place can be easy to miss since they are tucked away in a corner of a strip mall next to the Village Inn on Dimond and Arctic. An employee gave me a friendly greeting when I walked in. The dining area is spacious and clean with wooden tables and chairs spread out and a TV set propped on the ceiling in one corner of the room. I chose this place on a whim and I was really happy to pick this place for lunch. I ordered the Tuna Melt which had tuna salad, tomato, and cheddar cheese on toasted whole wheat bread with a side of potato salad. The wait was only a few minutes for my order. This was one of the best tuna sandwiches I've had since eating a tuna sub at Jimmy John's Subs back in Raleigh, NC. Some of the other sandwiches I plan on trying when I come back are the CCBLTA (chicken breast, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, melted Brie and mayo on marbled rye , the Barnyard (BBQ pork, BBQ brisket, turkey, ham, house BBQ sauce on a hoagie roll... that is a monster sandwich.... , the chicken salad (pulled chicken, toasted pecans, blue cheese, red grapes, and celery tossed in mayo with choice of bread , and the Caprese (mozzarella, roasted Roma tomatoes, and pesto sauce with choice of bread . The service was very friendly and the sandwich was piping hot with fresh veggies. I like locally owned sandwich shops like this and I was happy to find a better alternative to Subway. They will also provide a frequent diner punch card for you by writing your name down and keeping it on file by the register. Another local hidden gem to support against the Subway empire.
I came here around 12:30 pm on a weekday and it was completely empty. There were 2 others who came in to pick up their phones in orders. Another 3 patrons came in before I left. The dining area was pretty basic, but I enjoyed the extra space since I bring my baby everywhere and there's less of a chance of bothering someone if she cries. The service was quick and friendly and was similar to what you would experience at brown bag without the huge lines and crowd!! I got the Reuben with a side of potatoe salad. The Reuben was really tastes and they reall stacked in the meat!! They should for $12.50, but I thought it delicious. They lightly toast their bread, but not panini style... I think it was a bit too light of a toast. I wanted to save my other half for later, but it would be soggy for sure within the next 15 min : The potato salad was pretty nasty to me... It just wasn't my style, it was way to creamy with LOTS of mayo. I personally like the yellower, more gritty kind. I'd definitely go back, but I'll probably get chips as a side
Masters Sandwich Shop is a new restaurant currently in a soft opening, with the grand opening scheduled at the end of March 2015. The sandwiches though not cheap, are quite reasonable given the large portions. (I often eat half, and save the rest to snack on later. You can select from their standard roster of 16 sandwiches or have one built to your specifications. My favorite part of the sandwich is the slice of kosher dill pickle that comes with the meal. The house soup is a Tomato Basil is DELICIOUS, and I'm not particularly a fan of tomato soup, so that's really saying something. The potato, macaroni, and cole slaw salads are all fresh and home made, no store bough mayonnaise here. I haven't indulged in one of their desserts yet, but those oatmeal raisin cookies are looking awfully tempting. I'll take a good oatmeal raisin cookie over a chocolate chip (which they also have along with other desserts any day. They've only been open for about a week and a half, but I'm already a regular customer.
THANK YOU for proving everything I've heard right. I had the most AMAZING meal at Masters, and I will definitely be coming back. I don't even know what else to say. Perfection. ~MalieD #TheBreakfastClub 101.3 KGOT
Got my sandwich wrong. Was labeled no horse . Definitely had the horseradish. I 'd hope there wasn 't any horse in it lol. Got it on a hoagie. Bread is yummy but sandwich itself was average. 13 bucks for a large spicy beef sandwich. Had Few jalapenos and horseradish. Barely spicy.
