We wanted the fishsoup and I asked what they had in the soup: they said cod+salmon+shrimps. I only got a little bit of cod and shrimp (not what I have seen on the pictures or what I was told to expect). It was okay but a downer...
I visited this restaurant on a rainy and dark day in Andenes last January 2 and I was with a group of 14 friends, we felt like home in this restaurant. It is managed by two guys that are also I believe the chef and they are very nice and kind. The restaurant is simple and nice with all the Christmas lights. We had good fish and meat, the meals are big and they left us enjoy our time even after dinner having some chat and playing billiards. We were very glad and grateful because with a meal and a bit of kindness they made our day much much better!
A strange experience we went with our Norwegian friends who live in the town but none of the staff could speak Norwegian! So English was used but the waitresses English was not exactly perfect either. We got there in the end Food though was good and arrived promptly; surprisingly good wines and not too badly priced (by Norwegian standards).
Good lamb fish soup. Kebab, pizza cakes are medium. Overall the restaurant is very expresive and crowded.
I spent a couple of days in Andenes at New Year and after walking round a dark and empty town concluded that Orion was the cosiest looking place to escape the snowstorm. I was looked after as soon as I entered and after much deliberation settled on a fantastic cheeseburger which was prepared freshly, but wonderfully quickly, and soon satisfied my food cravings. I did feel a little guilty about having wanted the burger though, and the reason for my deliberation was the awesome range of food on the menu. Impressed I returned the next evening with a friend for reindeer stew, one of my favourite meals, and was even more impressed than I was by the burger, it was fantastic. There’s not much more I can say. If you’re in Andenes and want well made tasty and filling food with a good range of options then Orion is the place to go!
