This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, and the bacon and egg sandwiches were perfect. The exterior may not look impressive, but the food, prices, and staff make up for it. This charming coffee shop is definitely worth a visit.
I have driven past this establishment for many many years, watching it change from its Little Chef days, through many name changes and now the Bonnybreich, but had never stopped. After noticing a friend had left a good review for this place on TA, I decided, on a recent trip South, to plan a breakfast stop in past to try it out. On arrival we were the only ones in, I think it might have been minutes after opening, but were soon followed by a grouse stalker whom had been sitting in his vehicle outside. The place was chilly but the radiators were soon turned on and some background music started playing. We were slightly confused whether it was table service or till ordering but a mixture of both, seen us placing our order then being directed to collect our cutlery. The breakfasts arrived quickly and were hot and tasty, although the sausages were a bit low quality (catering sausage . It was a good feed at a reasonable price and I was glad we stopped in past and will do so again (they also accept Amex which is a bonus!
I travel this way from the north of Scotland every 6 weeks or so. After an early start and 2 hours of driving, I am ready for some breakfast. Well I have tried a few spots, mostly good but some not so good. Well a couple of weeks ago I planned to stop at Brechin Castle Centre for food. usually good), however roadworks had kept me on the dual carriageway. Well blow me down with a feather, along came the “ Bonnybreich”, slightly obscured by a row of leylandia trees. I have sailed past many times before, but this time I was able to slow down and stop. Although it looks like a cabin, it is very spacious, well laid out and spotlessly clean. I cannot think I have been to another eatery that is cleaner. Clearly well run and with management on top of their job. I opted for the standard breakfast and a hot chocolate. Poached egg instead of fried was no trouble at all. The meal was good and served by a smiling waitress, which always makes your custom feel wanted rather than being an inconvenience. You know what I mean.! Cannot say much more other than, “I’ll be back”. Thanks.
Between Aberdeen and Dundee, Bonnybreich cooked up a star mac n cheese for this fusspot who is always on the quest for the best! Yummy Thanks a lot!
