Zingerman's Roadhouse - Ann Arbor

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend, and they were absolutely spot on! Within just five minutes of sitting down, I had already placed my order, and my appetizers arrived almost immediately. Incredible! As I savored my warm, delicious appetizer, the main course arrived too—no more than ten minutes after I ordered. Everything was hot and tasty. The server was really laid-back and offered fantastic recommendations. I also loved the atmosphere; the walls of my dining area were adorned with a unique collection of salt and pepper shakers. Beyond the fantastic food, there’s a cool vibe here that fosters a different kind of work environment. They even publish their own magazine, and there are books and artwork displayed by the entrance. This place is a real gem! I ordered the sautéed whitefish, and it was absolutely divine.

I hadn’t visited this restaurant in years and was quite disappointed. While the service was excellent, the food was hit or miss and not worth the prices. I really enjoyed the chili fries, but the chicken sandwich was just okay, especially considering the cost. I also didn’t care for the pickles on it. I had told my fiancée that everything would be good here, but I felt embarrassed by the brisket he ordered. It wasn’t sliced; it was just shredded meat cooked and slathered in ketchup. If you’re a fan of paying $30 for ketchup-flavored beef, it might be for you, but it really wasn’t for us. Fortunately, they allowed us to swap it for something else, and we took the Herb Crusted Whitefish home, which was actually quite good! Overall, I don’t think I’d return, given the high prices for mediocre food.

We ended up leaving shortly after we were seated and had a chance to look at the menu. It was a Sunday, and we were under the impression it was a steakhouse, but there were no steak options available. The prices for the other items were also quite high. Before we left, the waiter mentioned that they do offer steak on the dinner menu, but we were there around noon. We had to wait about 20-25 minutes, but it just wasn't the right fit for us.

Good place, good food, good service. We came during peak dinner time on a weekday and the place gets packed pretty quickly. Our server lady was always around and our water topped up promptly. Food was ok to be honest, but I particularly liked their chickensandwich. I also appreciated the clean bathrooms. Overall would recommend this place if you?re in the area!

I had an excellent meal at Zingerman's and even heard that Obama visited when he was in town. Naturally, I had to check it out. I looked at the menu and didn't initially see any buns or waffles, but when I inquired, they had it prepared and ready to go. The waffles with goose are absolutely delicious, and if you're looking for something spicier, they have their own signature hot sauce that you can see on the plate.
