I always give my rest to my man and he eats them. Whenever I left, we had no dessert. it seems that dessert always/usually only vegetarian (containing milk or eggs) so I never ordered it. I always ask the personal, which items are vegan on the menu, because it is not quite clear, only through the search. they also sell some vegan friendly flavors, snacks, etc. I wish they would make everything vegan, it would make the dinge so much easier, but since there are so few options, elsewhere, I am simply grateful to have found a place to eat.
I wondered if we could get allium-free food here, and it turned out that this place is completely allium-free (a rare breed in japan)! the best part is eating here is super tasty. we ate both days in aomori. the dessert is not vegan, but the main course is good. it is quite far from the train station, but when they drive, there are plenty of parking available. very nice staff!
I've eaten here many times and loved everything. Finding vegan eating in aomori is very difficult, so this is an estimated place.
We drove 1.5 hours to taste the food and it was worth it. the staff was very friendly and helpful even if they were not well versed in English. the caffe had a proper facility. there's more room inside than you think. so happy that we made the time to try this place. we will definitely go back.
Vege Café Chiyamama, Midori 1 chome 12-29, Aomori 030-0845. This was a long walk from Aomori station so worth trying to catch a bus from there (go 13 minutes or 9 stops and get off at the first stop over the big overbridge that takes road 120 over the railway lines). You’’ll be in the vicinity of Midori 1 chome so just walk about until you find block 12 and then building 29. Ask somebody if you find it difficult – and see photos of business card and front of the premises. Hiring a bike would make it easier to get to. Spacious restaurant with a calm atmosphere on the first (ground) floor of owner’s house. Well patronised the day we went. Staff understood veganism and recommended lunch set C. Macrobiotic style rice and little bowls of various pickles (cabbage with mustard, beans, daikon, seaweed etc plus), a couple of beautifully deep fried ‘mock fish’ cutlets, a bowl of miso soup and a small bowl of salad. Lovely and cleansing. Hours 11-4 but last orders at 2.30. Not sure about evenings as business card doesn’t mention them. Closed Sundays and public holidays. Despite not being in the centre of town, well worth visiting for a delicious meal, lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff.
