Its decor as I expected a diner in Apache Junction to have. A lot of wood, taxidermy animals, and other old nick knacks. The parking lot is pretty large but definitely needs re paved and the lines re painted. They were almost invisible. Luckily we got there relatively early for dinner and there were not many cars for us to worry about. The food was good but to be honest the four star rating was due in large part to our server, Tresa. She was wonderful: attentive, funny, and witty. I am in no way saying the food was bad (the pineapple coleslaw was something new for me, and it had a nice flavor . The zucchini appetizer came out piping hot, my sister ordered the prime rib, and I believe I ordered a small sirloin. I do not eat prime rib but usually it's a nice deep pink color when my sister orders it at other places. This time it was not pink; my sirloin was flavored pretty well but I still used A 1 for a bit extra flavor. For desert we ordered the peach cobbler which wasn't bad, but I think the crust was store bought not bad in and of itself, I guess I was hoping for something thicker and much flakier. So yes, the food was good but considering we live in Laveen, I would not say it was good enough to drive back all that way ... unless we happen to be in the area for another hike. In which case, yeah, I would eat at Dirtwater again. :
Had sirloin, pineapple coleslaw asparagus the 1st time sirloin, baked potato and salad the 2nd. Sweet tea is not really sweet, potato was small, coleslaw was awesome and the steak was good. He had Mac and cheese with BBQ brisket. Service could have been better but they were all nice.
A bit pricey. The nic nacs have an inch of dust on them above your head while you eat. The meatloaf was very good. Mash potatoes were spectacular. I saw someone at the next table get a hamburger. It looked large and quite good. Service was good, but i could tell she was really working hard to keep up. I will come back for sure.
Great place to eat! The fish fry is fabulous, especially the pineapple coleslaw it comes with. Chicken fingers were great. Homemade tartar sauce was yummy! The atmosphere is very cool, like an old west bar. Service was outstanding. Highly recommended!
First off we have been in 4 times this season. Would have rated because we have had great experiences and not so great. Stopped in with a couple of friends the burgers and fish was excellent. So we recommended going with another group of 8. Six of us ordered medium burgers of the 6 one, one! of us got medium. The rest got black dried out burgers. If I remember correctly they gave us $0.60 off because we ate the burgers any way because they were busy. 3rd time did not order burger and the food was excellent. The last time we went I tried the burger at medium again well same story and more like medium well and nearly dried out. Not so busy that afternoon. Good place to eat just don’t order a burger. They have not perfected yet.
