The Belgian ale, on the other hand, was more to my liking with its beautiful color, fruity aroma, and well-balanced taste. I could easily see myself enjoying it frequently. In addition to these, he has plans to release a wheat beer and a Berliner weisse, which I am eagerly anticipating as no New Orleans brewery has made one yet. I believe this style would pair wonderfully with satsumas or local strawberries. Michael's beers have recently become available at select locations like The Avenue Pub, The Rusty Nail, and The Bulldog. I am excited to see what else he has in store for 40 Arpent Brewing in the future.
Juuuuuuuust adorable. Great beer, even better service, fun and local atmosphere. The Duckweed w/ grapefruit is mind blowing (but they ran out), the Orange Blossom was great too. The Smashing Good Time Blonde was just eh. The coffee stout was baller and I don't even drink stouts. Plus, they have free popcorn (which is actually bad new for me since I have ZERO snacking self control). Overall loved it and will go back. The only knock are the super skinny tables and only stools...and I didn't live the food truck situation. Trivia on Thursday nights is QUITE fun!
We stopped by 40 Arpent for an afternoon drink (which turned into two... or three... and wound up spending an entire afternoon early evening at this lovely little place. On a sunny afternoon, time can quickly pass you by here! Both of the bartenders that we had during our time here were friendly, cheery, and offered us samples of the various brews on tap. I ended up alternating between the Duckweed and the Orange Blossom both were delicious, but I think the Duckweed was my favorite. I also tried a sip of their spicy Mexican Chocolate brew, which definitely had a great kick to it it's not the type of beer I would typically opt to have an entire glass of, but I'd absolutely recommend it if you like dark beers with great flavor. The prices were right too $5 for a 16oz glass. What we loved most about this place was the great location, right on the river while the river isn't immediately visible from the seating area, a quick walk across the street will give you a terrific view of it. We were able to witness and beautiful sunset, a big cruise ship sailing by, and lots of smaller ships passing us as well. The bartender cooked up some delicious popcorn for us all, and we also got the chance to meet and talk to some of the locals who were over here for an afternoon drink. This place definitely has that down to earth, neighborly feel to it. The outdoor tables were a little strangely high compared to the low seated chairs, but we were still able to get comfortable enough to enjoy multiple glasses. The only slight bummer we encountered was that they were out of the coconut lime brew (which sounded positively delightful! . I hope they bring it back again! I definitely will make it a point to come back here the next time I'm in New Orleans and I'd love to do the actual brewery tour sometime.
We were in the area checking out the Chalmette Battlefield. After sating my history nerd tendencies, we caught a ride over here to see if we could find some good beer and a comfy hangout for a bit. We found it, perfectly. The location is a little tucked away, but good ol' GPS saved the day. Pulled in, walked right on in. The taproom is nice! Bar is well-made, assorted games inside for tipsy and drunken shenanigans, and a good amount of seating. We decided to sit outdoors. Grabbed a couple different beers: Red Ale was nice, Orange Blossom was tasty! Staff was great: there seemed to be just one person working, and several hanging out, but all were doing random things. Cleaning, picking up trash, tying down some stuff on a pallet. It was great. Beer was real good, prices were spot on. Staff was great. Location was great. For a mountain dude worried about dying in the humidity of the Lower Mississippi, the breeze and comfy chairs made me want a nap. Also the beers, they did that too. Wish we had nabbed a pint glass or souvenir, but we had to run quickly to make a dinner reservation. Bummer! Best brewery in the area.
Great little bar outside the brewery. Relaxed, comfortable, family friendly. There are games and a food truck outside. Very chill spot.
