Oak Creek is an okay little place right on the main drag in Arbutus. It's pretty unassuming inside, with a bar partitioned off from the dining area. They have a pretty decent selection of craft beers on tap. The bartender wasn't very knowledgeable, but it was the middle of a slow weekday. The hamburger, while made in house, I found to be pretty darn bland. It did come with a whole lot of crispy French Fries, though. If you're walking around Arbutus, this place will do. But it won't do much.
The food was pretty good; nothing special though. Tap beer and food are decently priced. Worth a stop by if in the area.
Sooooo... this is a place that exists. First off: TUESDAY PRIME RIB NIGHT the prime rib is expertly cooked and seasoned. I might've balked at $19.99 if it was just for me, but they gave us a *warmed* plate so my wife and I could split it (no charge! . That price includes a salad each and a loaded sweet potato. Suddenly that's a very affordable and filling dinner. As great as the prime rib was, the Guinness Beef Stew was my favorite part of the meal (soup of the day; not always available so hearty, rich, and still balanced with chunks of meat and potatoes. The beer selection is very average, though they do have some Heavy Seas. I was happy with my Guinness. The rest of the menu didn't seem too inspiring, but there are clearly some interesting options (a muffaletta wrap?? that I may try next time. While most options include sandwiches and wraps, they also have large meat and seafood platters. The dining room is separated from the bar by a low wall, but everyone can see the whole place. In the summer, people sit out on the deck and enjoy a drink or two. While very little of their options seem original, the food was solid and the service cordial, so it's worth coming back.
My only complaint about this place is where we were seated. They put us in the back room which is the kiss of death, we've been back there before and received really bad service and cold food. This time our waitress was the great and the food outstanding. This is what I do not like about the back room, the lighting is harsh very bright. The trashcans are OVERFLOWING and the cubby behind me has a shelf with dozens of cans of roach spray, none of this was conducive or appetizing. If the owner ever reads this, you are really missing the mark with that room. Clean it up or don't seat anyone back there.
