Promised myself some time ago, we wouldn 't have Chinese food especially from our go to spot on Knollwood Rd because it kind of turned me off. But as luck would have it, the owner of our favorite Wine shop, referred us to come here since her sister owns it. Located on a strip mall in Ardsley, Golden Wok was a nice surprise. Place opens up with huge Bamboo plants in the Bar then followed by their Dining area. Greeting was very nice and seated right after. Looks like people practically line up to come here because for a Friday night, Golden was booming! So much so, we were asked to sit on a 5 seater round table instead of a 2 seater since they were all taken. Still good. Despite reviews mentioning 'small plates ' and 'overpriced ' food ' honestly, we can 't compare it to anything, nor did we look at price. But Golden works big, good plates of staple foods like Peking Duck, roast pork, noodles, plus more from what I noticed on their menu. Apple Martini was...good. When it comes to Chinese food I don 't venture at all and just stick to either a Vegetarian meal or seafood. My 'Seafood Family ' dish was very good and Golden gets a high five for not using red dyes for their sauces. While hubby enjoyed both his Egg Drop Soup and said it 's the best he 's had in a long time and Kung Pao Chicken. Golden isn 't a new kid on the block. History goes they 've been here on this same strip for 30 years and counting! I guess this place brings fire because the proof is right here with taste and clientele. It 's a nice hit and was worth the drive.
Good not great. The portions are a little on the smaller side but the service was good and the food fresh. If the portion was a little larger and the price a little lower, they would have gotten 4 stars. Overall, I probably won't be back but that's primarily because there are hundreds of Chiense restaurants that can do it better for less. They do, however, have a solid gluten free menu, so that's always good to keep in mind.
I had my friend pick me up some food here tonight because I was home and not feeling well. I called in the order General tso's chicken, nothing out of the ordinary. The food wasn't bad at all but somehow this cost $17. One small bowl of chicken veggies with a small portion of white rice. Not impressed.
My rating is for SERVICE ONLY. I was in a party of 3 and we arrived on a Saturday at 6:00 PM. The restaurant was fairly empty at that time but it still took us over 5 minutes to be acknowledged and another 3 minutes to be seated. Once at our seat it took almost 15 minutes before someone came to take out drink order. The waiter was sweet enough but sadly didn 't speak English well enough to understand what Seltzer was. We had to wait for another woman to come over to ask us again what we meant and another 10 minutes to get our beverages and another 20 minutes before someone came to take our order. I was ready to walk out but my boyfriend and his buddy were determined to have Chinese food. It took 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. We started asking after 20-30 minutes after we placed the order (when we could actually get someone to acknowledge us). The entrees came out at different times as well. Took another 20 minutes to get the check and get out of there. The food was really decent and I enjoyed my entree but the poor poor poor service overshadowed my dining experience. I might do takeout from there but I will never in a million years go back to sit in this restaurant to dine.
Absolutely delicious! We tried a little bit of everything and it was all so good.
