Daiquiri Depot - Arlington

This place reminded me of the kitchen of my oma. it used only salt and pepper to season and somehow it was still perfect. so was this place. I had the bark tips over rice, yamskohl and mac and cheese with maisbrot.

The experience is in itself....Go and enjoy the beef tips or ox tails or anything on the menu that you can eat. my curse is that I cannot enjoy the seafood, but I can show them a photo of what my fam loves it for

Everything I got was good except for the cauliflower. It's very hard and crisp and seems like it's never cooked. the ochre tails of the rubber bears and the chicken spaghetti were good. the cat was on the spot as well as the greens. but this crispy, hard cabbage must go!

The environment was a vibe, but eating was ok, ochsenschwänze was kind of bland not well seasoned and more bones then meat. mac and cheese were good, cauliflower was very sharp and had an unpleasant sweet taste. also not worth a picture. yams were very good. daiquiri was also good. outer table top was so sticky and creepy it was hard to sit there. tables were also in the sun and sticky.

The service was okay, I was not greeted or acknowledged upon walking in despite there being three workers at the food line and there were no customers in line except me. I literally starred at them with confusion wondering if I was at the right spot to retrieve my online order. I then inquired on if they would help me.Honestly in 2022, this is simply unacceptable and the reason why black business sometimes get a bad rep. Message to Employees: Just know the customers keep the employees employed. You aren’t doing us a favor by serving us. It is your duty. Think back to Covid and how hard everything was and treat customers kindly, as there are other places to buy daiquiris and mediocre soul food.Nonetheless, my review is simply based on the actual food experience.I ordered baked chicken (2 quarters) with yams and Mac and cheese. The yams were good. The chicken was very fair in color and bland. I added some bbq sauce and it did not help. I also think the chicken could have cooked a little while longer. It was undercooked. I ended up throwing the other quarter chicken away. The mac and cheese was not good at all. I went the day before Easter hoping for some good mac and cheese, as I had to travel for work on Easter Sunday.The mac and cheese had no cheese. Like none. Lol. The sauce it was in tasted very much like imitation cheese and it was very milky and bland. I added shredded cheese to it, but it could not mask the awful taste of the imitation cheese. Sadly, I will not be back for any food. I will try the daiquiris next time.Wish I could get my money back as the food was trashed!!! What a waste of effort, time and money!!!! But it wasn’t worth risking food poisoning as some customers have reported.
