Kanpai is best known for their fantastic lunch specials. When I worked in the neighborhood I would go over and get a wonderful katsu lunch plate for right around $10. But Kanpai is even better for dinner, and if Rosslyn was more active in the evenings I think Kanpai get the recognition it deserves. I love going to Kanpai in theevening and enjoying their really well curated list of noodle dish specials like nabeyaki udon and zaru soba depending on the season. You can even get handmade yaki onigiri that looks and tastes flawless. Any place that keeps a nattohandroll on the menu cares about the details I don't even like natto and I still order it every time I go just on principle. Give Kanpai a chance to be more than a business lunch and you'll find a real neighborhood gem.

I'll be coming here every time I'm in DC-and maybe a few more times on this trip.
