The call was made for a dinner booking from 6.30 7.00pm for two. Easy done. On arrival we went to the bistro area and stated that we had a booking and were directed to find our labeled table. None could be found! Returning to the bistro we were then told to Just find a table . Being unsatifsfied with our search I retured to the counter and said please check our booking, only to be told that it had been made for lunchtime! Deciding to stay we sat at the only seats available, near the pool table, toilets and general bar area only to be entertained by a very loud and obnoxious group of middle aged women, behaving badly with young university men. Our meals arrived, having the shared entree deivered with our main meals at the same time. The food was average pub food. Parking is an issue here and the staff were not very keen to look after patrons. They were more excited to engage with the young crowds and finding out what the latest gossip and attractions in town. There are plenty of other places to eat that will give you a much nicer food, environment and service experience.
The Wicklow often called The Pink Pub after a previous paint job is the go to place for good restaurant food and speedy bar service. You can counbt on a warm fire in winter.
The best thing about this place is their garlic bread! Apart from that, the atmosphere is average and the main meals (from what I have eaten) are oily and fatty. I have ended up feeling 'off ' after a meal there on two occasions. It 's well priced and close to the heart of town.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I felt warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed my dinner of sausages and mashed potatoes. The portion size was generous and there was plenty of space in the clean and tidy dining area. The prices were reasonable, and the restaurant is conveniently located near motels. I stayed at the Club Motel next door, which was very convenient. Overall, this restaurant is close to everything you could possibly need.
Had lunch there over the New Years break, so was very quiet but received great service. I had the rump steak which was slightly over cooked (I ordered it medium rare, it came out medium well) but still delicious. My partner ordered the ribs and wings combo and was very pleased. We will be back!
