No urgency to address this. They also do not provide any type of room service. We had a Premier suite, and not once in 4 days were given new towels or sheets or coffee etc. The amount of time it took for this housekeeper to write a note about my dogs she could have just left the towels/ sheets at the door as requested. Not sure how dogs being in the room interferes with leaving items in a hallway. Or why you have the room service request as an option? If you just look for excuses not to do it. We also asked the front desk as well for these items and they said they would bring and never did. On that note- the staff here were very unwelcoming and this is not a pet friendly hotel at all. It was a very uncomfortable stay, and did not feel welcomed. We felt as if we were an inconvenience, overall very unfriendly atmosphere. My partner was also questioned about his service dog. Nikky K told him that ptsd is not recognized by ADA for a service dog but is emotional support. Not sure what made her think she is at all qualified to make such a statement, but perhaps she should educate herself and not discriminate anymore people with disabilities. The dog in question in fact is trained to provide a service specifically related to ptsd. The restaurant was not open Sun/Mon which is too bad, it was the only enjoyable part of our stay. The manager was friendly and our server was amazing! She also makes a killer spicy margarita. The location is the only other positive comment I have. The service at the Inn is very poor, and does not represent what you would expect from a luxury boutique hotel- or any hotel.Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
Had read many good reviews about this hotel so was looking forward to a great experience. I did not have the experience I expected.Good location, solid property lacking in service and somewhat “tired” facility which needs some maintenance/ upkeep (see photos).Specifically, despite the $350 nightly price and 2 night minimum stay, your room will not be serviced unless you arrange beforehand. We made that arrangement to little avail. Our room “service” included 2 new towels and a modest attempt at making the bed. Little, if any attempt, was made to straighten the room, replace the in-room coffee service, empty the trash or remove the used towels. When I approached the front desk to ask them to correct the poor room servicing, I was told “oh, I’m sorry, I’ll let housekeeping know…”. I asked that they let the GM know and was told “…the GM resigned yesterday…”.All in all, poor value for the money, lackluster service, poorly trained staff and an absent leadership structure. Likely, much better service, energy and value for the money nearby.
The overall decor and layout of the hotel was a pleasant experience, and based on the premium price for the area, I was expecting a premium experience and premium service. I was surprised when our room didn’t get serviced and when it finally did late afternoon, there was very poor attention to detail. On the website, under the Amenities tab, it stated “Complimentary breakfast each morning in the Peacock Room”. The morning after our first night’s stay, I went to the front desk and asked “Where is the Peacock Room?” The woman at the counter stated “ Why do you want to go there?” I explained about breakfast advertised on the website. She stated “Oh we don’t do that anymore. Now we have it on the other side of this wall across from the elevator”. These were pre-packaged off brand muffins and chocolate flavored stuffed croissants with weak cheap gas station like coffee. This was not close to what I expected or what was advertised.Nearby activities: Arnold’s Park amusement park was a 5-10 minute walk. Parking on site was free but it was limited.Walkability: Easy walk to Arnold’s Park and the lake.Food drinks: Food on site was great but not affiliated with the hotel and no breakfast or lunch was served.
Avoid this property if at all possible. We had a family event and needed to be close to Arnolds Park and were told this was the nicest hotel in the area.... I should have looked elsewhere. The Good: It is within walking distance of Arnolds Park and the lake. The Bad: Dirty, dark and dank rooms with worn out furniture and fixtures. There are two recessed lights in the entire room (including the bathroom) not great when the walls are predominantly painted black/dark green. The air conditioning is loud, dirty, smelly, and only cools the air sort of but does not remove the humidity so you have a cold, clammy sensation and the smell of old feet when you walk in the room. There is no sound insulation. This appears to be a popular destination for young wedding parties we felt like we were at the party that was above and beside us all night but no one ever brought me a drink..... Extremely limited parking plan on parking on the street if you are lucky. No views except the parking lot and back of a large condominium complex that surrounds this property. The joke of a continental breakfast consisted of one type of prepackaged muffin, two types of juice, and coffee all this is yours for $300+ per night I could go on, but reliving this experience is quite traumatic. This is a part of the Ascend collection for Comfort Inn which in this circumstance only refers to the price rising nothing else is elevated above a Motel 6. It is obvious that the owner of this property is squeezing every last drop of profit out of it with no concern regarding the experience of their guests. My advice sleep in your car in the middle of Summer in Iowa far better experience.
Phenomenal place! My wife and I loved the pool deck. The staff was great as well!
