The bathroom was good but two things I would recommend: another shelf to hold make-up etc as we found with the two of us it was adequate but ‘more would be better’. When my friend had a shower (handheld shower) water went everywhere as no curtain but I put a plug in and had a bath and washed hair sitting down..so I was happy! Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is within walking distance of eateries and normal shops. Wonderful service and the gentleman who ‘booked us in’ was very professional and friendly.
Words almost fail me. Dried and cold bacon, no orange juice, no napkins. Only the company lifted the meal.
So completely and utterly disappointed booked an afternoon tea about three weeks ago for today as a Mother’s Day treat for my mum and a friend. At time of booking specifically asked what was included and was advised selection of sandwiches, cakes scones baked on the day, a glass of Prosecco and unlimited tea or coffee. When we arrived our booking didn’t seem to have been made. The front of house staff didn’t know what an afternoon tea was, there were no scones or cakes available but the could make us a sandwich, Melba toast and biscuits. We decided not to stay and went elsewhere and would not return or recommend. The only positive was that the member of staff we were dealing with was very polite and apologetic.
The B&B part of this place is ok. Room was nice enough, clean, kettle with plenty of tea and coffee. The restaurant food was nothing special at all, nothing most people couldn’t easily make at home. The service could be improved. The staff were keen but inexperienced
We went for our traditional Christmas Day we do every year to this hotel. The hotel and restaurant has a new owner. Friendly but everything was not what it used to be, I hope they can bring the standards back to how the old owners ran this, if they don't I can't see it being there for long. Our Christmas was quite dissapointing.
