And today it's pretty much as I remember it, to be honest! I went on a Thursday night and had a fantastic time. If you're into traditional Irish music, the sessions have started up again and are well worth checking out. There's a large snug at the front that seems custom made for musicians (if you stay, you'll soon be surrounded! . It's a very old school spot really, the decor is quite dated (although the toilets are recently renovated and are spotless and it could do with updating, I think all the exposed, 80s style red brick put me off! And the layout is odd; there's a bar up the front that feels more like a lounge and a larger lounge area out back, on the other side of a partition, that feels like a bar. When I visited, it was busy and there were virtually no women in the back, just men watching sports or playing pool great craic I'm sure but a bit odd to outsiders! But if you stick to the front and you like Guinness, this is by far the best pint of Guinness I've had in Ashbourne, if not one of the best in Ireland. Perfectly poured, creamy, flawless and you can tell they take care of their lines. Plus the service is incredible; the barman kept checking if we wanted another drink and brought them to us, along with the card machine, in no time at all. We stayed til closing time, by which time the place was very busy with regulars and musicians. I've no doubt the Fox's Den will have a big overhaul in the near future and attract new patrons like me, locals who don't usually look to Ashbourne for a night out but post pandemic, find themselves a bit more into staying local. If they did food to the same standard, the place could be unbeatable in Ashbourne
Very nice place to relax and have dinner, the staff service was excellent and the food was amazing .
A jewel of a pub with friendly staff and a great pint of guinness
Beautiful ambiente large service and a very nice atmosphere
Fabulous pub, one of the best pints of Guinness that you will get. Very friendly staff, pool tables, dart board and an outside heated area. Toilets always clean
