Black Hog Ashburn

Good but in a county with a lot of BBQ options it 's only just that, good. The Texas brisket isn 't. I know they call it that but if you 've been to Texas you 'll know immediately that this doesn 't line up in comparison to Texas brisket. Is it bad? Nope, but it 's not great either. It 's just ok at best. The ribs are very dry, which I wasn 't expecting when I ordered the 'dry ' rub. Moist ribs with a smoke ring and delicious rub is what I was expecting, but what I got was dry ribs and a sugary rub that did little for the flavor. Maybe the wet ribs are different, I don 't know. But the dry rub were not worth the calories. The sides are also just okay, the best one we 're the collards. The Mac n cheese was not creamy, the baked beans were 100% out of a can, and the cole slaw was buried in mayo. The bright spot here was the customer service and the variety of sauces, especially the Carolina ones. Also, there was no one and I mean no one here on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm, maybe that was a sign? Either way this isn 't the BBQ spot for me. The Pit Stop or even Misson are a much better alternative.

I grew up in North Carolina and Texas. I know good BBQ, and I did not get it here. Pulled into the parking lot at 12:50PM on a Monday, and there was not a single other car in the lot. Wanted ribs and smoked sausage for my two smoked meat platter. Was told ribs were not available on that platter. They confirmed that yes, they did smoke their ribs. Ordered the small rib platter with Cole slaw and beans, with an add on of smoked sausage, and iced tea. $28 .57. Beans were ok. Slaw was ok. Meats were poor. Ribs were completely dried out and meager. Sausage was a cross between bratwurst and a hot dog, smoked in it's casing. Zero smoke penetrated that casing. Expensive bbq, poorly prepared and poor marketing. 1st and last visit. Carolina Bros and Mission are a star or two better.

They continue to maintain their quality and service has improved with new manager(? . Now they also have some new items on menu plus some specials. They really need to add burnt ends on menu as they do a great job with everything else.

We were so happy to find this bbq place. Great bbq, yummy corn bread coleslaw, good sauces. Glad to add Black Hog BBQ on our take out rotation!

I was just driving around and I saw this place I ordered a plain cheeseburger with fries. And once I got my food it was so amazing
