Chestnut - Asheville

We enjoyed a really great meal here with friends the other night. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. We ordered the mussels, fried green tomatoes and pork belly to start. Dinner 3 of us did the pork chop amazing) and one did the salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly we will definitely return

Although we are local to Asheville, this was our first visit to Chestnut. But, I'm pleased to say this won't be our last!! Our dishes, the ambiance, and the service were all outstanding. We can see why Chestnut is such a hit with locals and visitors alike.

We discovered Chestnut by chance while browsing on Google. Although we had dined at its sister restaurant, Corner Cafe, several times, we had no prior knowledge of Chestnut. It turned out to be a delightful surprise. The retro decor, exceptional waitstaff, and delicious food made our experience enjoyable. For lunch, we shared the kale salad with calamari, and then enjoyed the bread pudding for dessert. Both dishes were outstanding. I highly recommend Chestnut!

We've visited Chestnut twice before and absolutely loved it! However, the menu has changed, and it's not quite as wonderful as it used to be. The Chestnut Salad has been modified and is now rather ordinary (it used to be fantastic), and our whole fish dish was disappointing. The appetizer was good, and we might order it again, though I can't remember exactly what it was—quite a bit has happened since late December 2016. The other couple we dined with was satisfied but not blown away, despite us telling them how great it would be. We chose to skip dessert since we weren't fully impressed with the dinner. Just to add, I did wonder if they had changed chefs or ownership in the past two years since the meal was only decent, but I found out they had not.

Overall a very good restaurant some dishes better than others. Service was very good. The food choices were not really my style or taste. I would recommend.
