The restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere, the meal was served quickly and was delicious. The interior is charming and historic, with a cozy inglenook fire. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
A nice drink next to the fireplace and tasty food served by a nice lady. We really enjoyed the kidney pie! And the walk around the church nearby is very nice!
Ye Maydes may appear to be a place for full 3 course meals from the outside, but it offers much more than that. My two friends and I (all in our 60s and 70s) enjoyed a relaxing pot of tea by the open fire before moving to the beautiful restaurant area with lovely table displays, elegant cream linen napkins, and exquisite white crockery. We had three starters for our lunch without feeling pressured to order additional courses. Instead of dessert, we chose to have another round of tea and coffee. The total bill, including our initial tea by the fire, came to just over £28. Our host Sheila was incredibly accommodating, and the food (avocado bake with cheese and ham, cauliflower cheese with bacon, and homemade vegetable soup with French bread) was delicious and served piping hot. We had a wonderful dining experience and couldn't find any faults. Another guest who had a main course and dessert also seemed delighted with their meal and left before us, even though they arrived much later. We appreciated being able to linger, which is a rare treat these days. Ye Maydes truly offers a little bit of everything and is a restaurant worth visiting.
Visited here in a group of 16 adults for dinner. I had sought the menu beforehand offering plenty of choice, and notified the restaurant of our choices. The restaurant is attractive being a little olde worlde, and there were fresh flowers on our table. The two young ladies who served our meal silver service together with the owner, were excellent friendly and efficient. All the meals including the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Altogether a delicious evening meal.If there was a downside it was a slight lack of atmosphere as we were the only customers. Perhaps a little background music would have helped.....However it was a lovely evening and all our french friends were very impressed.
