This summer we had tried another highly rated place in the city, but it was so heavy and not better than what we can get for less in Salem. I heard Agave was fresh and light, something else. So this afternoon was my first time in this lively little food. I had the fresh fish taks of the day. They were grilled with delicious filling and served with rice pintos. I took some Carnitas wet Burritos at home for son man, and a chicken green Chile tamale for me, for an extra treat. All foods were fresh, clean and healthy tasting (which is why I had room for tamale treatment later, ha ha ha! . Service was politely knowledgeable. Looks like a nice place to eat, no matter what the weather is. The menu and the accommodation can be cooled and warm.
My daughter and my son-in-law are plant-based essers who rarely go to din due to their limited options. they want fresh organic food. agave is one of the few places they eat. we were a big group and that was good. I think they are a little overpriced because it is not excellent or so much better than other Mexican restaurants. we sat outside and took us time. how many companies they are underoccupied and the service suffers something. it is worth going here when they are in the city and in the mood for Mexican food.
The food was very fresh and delicious with a great presentation. Great margaritas.
Tried the chilaquiles and green chile chicken tamale. tamale was excellent. I had much better chilaquiles. not much taste for her.
Wonderful flavors. Homemade chips and salsa but the nickel and dime-ing is pretty heavy. $6 for a shrimp taco and they come with three little shrimps. A couple oz of salsa for a party of four means I?m getting up several times to ask for more salsa? and then chips. It?s a fine restaurant in a good location, but the portions leave me hungry.
