Sarku Japan - Aspen Hill

I recently tried a restaurant that I ordered from through Uber, and it was fantastic. They had a special deal on their prices, so both dishes were under $10 each. I ordered the bark and huh teriyaki, and both were delicious with generous food portions. The packaging was sturdy and well done. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for Japanese food and they happen to be less busy.

Ever since becoming a franchise, this restaurant has changed from its original location in the Wheaton Plaza old food court on the bottom level. The portions are now smaller, the extra sauce on the side is saltier than before, and customers have to pay extra for fried rice or noodles that used to be complimentary. I used to enjoy the free fried rice, but now I have to settle for white rice. However, the fancy, reusable, recyclable, microwavable, dishwasher-safe takeout container with their logo is a nice touch.

I was extremely let down by this restaurant and now I understand why it is always empty. The customer service is terrible, and they serve dry, overcooked meat that has been sitting out for a while. The wasabi always smells and tastes spoiled, and nothing seems fresh. The portions of meat are also very small. This experience has turned me off from ever wanting to eat at Sarku again. It was a very unpleasant and unappetizing experience.
