This is a most excellent restaurant. The food is of a very high standard, the staff and proprietor are very friendly. The menu is small and varied, the wine list is more than adequate. When coming to Helnæs it is a must, but only open on Friday Saturday and Sunday in the off season but more during summer.
Honest and affordable food. Even the wine was not too expensive Restaurants are hard to find on Helnaes but the ones that are there are okay.
Traditional Danish dishes, but also few very good entrees ...decorated and tasting superb. What you dot expect you get ... try the Salmon or the sirloin... good service and fair pricing
My wife and I went there in late October. After entering through a series of small cozy rooms we were greeted by the hostess. She was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a very genuine and aesthetic feel to it and even though the place is small there is plenty of space between the tables. The food was first-rate. There is nothing pretentious about it; it is simply good old-fashioned Danish food and it comes in large quantities! We both had the salmon with cottage cheese for starters. The ingredients were fresh and flavorsome; even the bread was incredible and obviously homemade that same day. For the main course I had the Wienerschnitzel and my wife the haunch of venison. The latter was a little dry, everything else was delicious. A small tip: skip the starters. The main courses are so large and plentiful that any average person will be more than satisfied from that alone.
