First, Rezola is one of the very few cider houses that does the meal and txotx year-round. So, if you are visiting in the summer months, it is a good place to have the experience. Believe me, it is an experience! We had a group of 5, and walked into the empty place. A gentleman was sitting outside with the ciderhouse dog. He walked in with us, showed us how to use the txotx, and started cooking our amazing meal. The txotx is the spout on the large barrel of cider. It is all-you-can-drink, and you just help yourself. Fresh cider, from the barrel!! So good!!!! Then, the food started coming out. Chorizo and cheese, with delicious bread. Bacalao omelet. The bacalao with peppers and garlic was incredible!! Then the steak. A monster ribeye. By the end, I was so full of delicious food and cider that I could barely wait to sit by the beach in San Sebastian. As a lover of Basque Sidra, this was a very memorable experience. The two gentlemen working there didn't speak English, but were very helpful. They were enjoying their own lunch of goose barnacles, and even offered some of those to us. I will never forget my visit to Rezola. It is very basic and old-school, but delicious and a really good time.
We came to the opening; 20:15, we were the only guests. The family finished the dinner, they asked us for a self-service at the sidre barrels for a quarter hour. Exact a 1/4 hour later we got the starter; a warm chorizo with a fresh, warm baguette. We just finished, the bacalao-tortilla was coming. In between sidre again and again. This was continued with a perfect fish, white like marble, roasted exactly, with fried pepper and garlic. Sidre again and again. We thought, we were already saturated, but the highlight was coming mow: a huge steak, from the BBQ, cutted in slices with fresh seasalt and pepper. Unbelievable quality! Sidre again and again. In between the sidreria was full up to the last seat. The last fight were the sweet and cheese plate with membrillo und walnut. It was a fantastic evening, including the traditional celebration of the sidre from the barrels.
