Although I've ordered a few times through Seamless, I decided to stop by for a Saturday brunch this time, and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, which is surprising given how outstanding the food is! Our waiter was very kind and helped us with our final brunch choices. I opted for the bottomless brunch option, which is $33 for one entrée and unlimited mimosas, Bellinis, screwdrivers, well drinks, or my favorite, the raspberry lemonade sangria. For my entrée, I chose the Southern Belle Bennie with scrambled eggs, and I finished everything on my plate except for the salad! The portion sizes are perfect for brunch, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. They also have amazing dinner options worth trying. This place is a true gem in Astoria that more people need to discover! I will definitely be back—this visit was not my first, and it certainly won't be my last. I just finally took the time to write the review they deserve!
This was my first experience at this restaurant, and unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. I ordered delivery, and it was quick, especially for lunchtime. The cornbread was tasty, which was a plus. However, that's about all I can say positively, which is why I'm giving it two stars. I ordered the fish and chips and was genuinely disappointed. For $18, I received two small pieces of fish and cold fries. Overall, I wasn't satisfied.
Next, we tried the guacamole, which I felt was overpriced at $15 for such a small portion (see photo). The Cajun mac and cheese would have been decent if it weren’t so salty. The nachos were just nachos, and the dirty rice didn’t really taste like traditional dirty rice, though it was passable. On the plus side, the drinks, our server, and the bartender were all fantastic. Given the prices, I expected a higher quality of food, and I was particularly disappointed with the cornbread.
I definitely enjoy going here to eat, the staff makes the experience worth it, like our orders actually matter. I love Thier Mac and Cheese, which one? All of them! And honestly if you're as much of an Mac and Cheese enthusiast like me, then you shouldn'twait to go give it a try, it's all worth it!
For our second appetizer, we ordered fried pickle spears. They were what you'd expect from fried pickles—not groundbreaking, but still tasty, and they came with a remoulade dipping sauce. Our entrees were also very good. My companion had the Louisiana shrimp po-boy, filled with fried shrimp, topped with remoulade, lemon dill, hot sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun, with a side of crispy fries. He really enjoyed it. I chose the Where Y'at Burger, which came with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a fried egg, also served with fries. The runny yolk brought all the flavors together, and she was quite satisfied. As for me, I had the fried crab cake po-boy served with chicken noodle soup. The sandwich featured lettuce, tomato, sliced pickles, and remoulade. It was tasty, but I’ve had better crab cakes. It’s tough to find one with the right texture, and Bubba’s crab cake could have been crispier than it was. Still, while the texture wasn’t ideal, the flavor made up for it. Would I order this dish again? Probably not, as it didn’t quite satisfy my cravings for a perfect crab cake. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I recommend giving Bubba's a try; their menu is refreshing and different from the typical restaurant fare. I appreciate the variety, and you might enjoy it too.
