I stayed at the Golden Nugget for my birthday week and ordered the Kani Salad as an appetizer and the house fried rice for my main course. Unfortunately, the Kani salad, which featured imitation crab, was mostly made up of sliced cucumbers, with the crab salad buried underneath. The fried rice was bland, and I had to request soy sauce to add some flavor, which I typically avoid. It was surprising that the rice, which included three different proteins—pork, chicken, and beef—was so lacking in taste. On the plus side, it wasn't greasy. As for the service, it was just okay. My total bill was $32 for the two dishes and a Coke. Now, why did I give it one star? Firstly, while eating the rice, I began to feel unwell. I wrapped it up to take with me, thinking I might have just overeaten, as the portion was huge—definitely meant for sharing. They should consider offering smaller portions for solo diners. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling sick the entire night and couldn't get any rest until 3 AM. Secondly, as a Landry Select cardholder, I provided my card to earn points for this visit. However, when I checked my balance the next morning, there were no points registered, and I had been too ill the night before to do so. I also contacted Landry about this, but their policy states that no points can be adjusted after the bill is paid, leaving me with no way to resolve the situation. To summarize: the food was mediocre in taste, I had an unpleasant experience with sickness, and my check wasn't applied to my loyalty card.
Sadly, two stars is the best I can give this review. We love Chinese and Japanese food, so we thought staying in the Golden Nugget and having Lillies be open late was a great advantage for us. The food did not live up to any expectations. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll, yellowtail roll, and the beef lo mein to split. The sushi came out first. The yellowtail was not good at all and the shrimp tempura roll was ok to good. The saddest part of our meal was the beef lo mein. It did not have one ounce of flavor. We both had to pour on soy sauce that didn't help that much either. I heard they have great happy hour specials and the egg rolls are good...maybe that is what they need to specialize in
Had the Pad Thai it was excellent i asked for it a little spicy it came out great. Service was great. Only thing that bothered me was there wasn't any prices on the menu at the entrance. I had to ask for menu with prices before we went in. Thank you Lillies, nice job.
I'm a fan of Lillie's, even though I wasn't expecting to be. Their chilean sea bass $48) is fantastic. If you told me I had to be converted into a pescatarian and you asked me what fish dish I'd eat every day, it would be Lillie's chilean sea bass. It melts in your mouth. I generally get salmon because I'm basic, and I'm not a big fan of fish. Now, I am. Their kalbi korean short rib $34) is great. People always told me that there's a difference between a la carte korean BBQ and AYCE. I didn't believe them and didn't care, because I still love AYCE KBBQ. This may have changed my mind. Lillie's kalbi is fall-off-the-bone tender. It's deliciously seasoned. I can eat multiple pounds of this. And I don't need to look like a dog chewing on beef jerky. Though I wouldn't mind looking like a dog for Lillie's kalbi short ribs. Their beef chow fun, fried rice, and seafood soup are all mediocre.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed the chicken dumplings and vegetable spring rolls. We also tried a special pineapple fried rice with chicken and pork. Unfortunately, it was served somewhat cold, which was disappointing. The pineapple had grill marks, so it seemed like it might have been sitting out for a while. While it came out very quickly, the temperature was definitely lukewarm. The flavors could have been enjoyable, but I was more focused on the temperature than on the taste, and I didn’t eat much of it. What I did manage to eat needed soy sauce, as it was quite bland without the pineapple.
