Sonic Drive-in - Atwater

I always use the app, so my order is ready when I arrive. Just place the order, check in, and pick it up. The food is what you would expect, but the limeade is truly exceptional!

I visited on August 17, 2022, at 4:15 PM and ordered a strawberry cheesecake milkshake, which unfortunately turned out to be spoiled. It had a taste reminiscent of expired milk. When I examined the cup, I discovered a clear layer of slimy milk at the bottom. If I end up getting sick, I intend to take legal action.

I visited to get some ice cream around 9 PM, only to find out that they weren't serving any ice cream products because they close at 10 PM and had already cleaned up. I find this quite unreasonable. The young lady at the window explained that they do this every evening since they have minors working there who need to get home at a certain time. This seems like poor management! There should be an adult on duty to ensure that ice cream can be served until closing time. Sonic, you really need to improve your operation—I’ll be going to Baskin Robbins around the corner instead.

The wait time is the usual HORRIBLE, meaning if you have a half hour lunch, just pick something else. I was able to come here using the app to order my food before leaving, and pick it up with time to spare, but they SHUT OFF MOBILE ORDERING FOR NOREASON AT ALL. The prices are also the usual Sonic experience, outrageously high, to the point that you question your lifechoices. Note that I did still give them 3 stars, because I am harsh, but fair. Their popcorn chicken earned 2 of those and100% cherry inclusion on the diet cherry Coke got the 3rd.

I really enjoy corn dogs, and Sonic has some, although I can't comment on their other offerings since I haven't tried them. While they might not be as amazing as those from the Texas State Fair, they're still pretty good. My wife likes to sample a variety of dishes, and she enjoys everything, especially her frozen drinks. I tried an ice cream coffee, and it was the best treat I had during our drive. The staff here, including those in the drive-thru, are very polite and hardworking. However, I should mention that this doesn't apply to the Sonic in Gilroy, CA, where I've encountered issues like limited storage and broken equipment, which can be quite frustrating. Overall, Sonic is a solid choice!
